Glass block
A transparent block with a refractive index: the ray enters and leaves at a different angle.
How to add
In the left Instruments and experiments panel, Light and lenses section: click the element and it appears in the centre of the frame. Rays are traced instantly, no need to run the simulation. Put the block in the path of the ray and tilt it.
Properties
- Refractive index
- Air is 1, water about 1.33, glass about 1.5.
- Angle, W and H
- Rotation and size of the block.
Tips
- After a plane-parallel plate the ray leaves parallel to the original but shifted.
- At a large angle of incidence total internal reflection is possible inside the glass.
