Lens
A thin lens: converges or diverges rays depending on the sign of the focal length.
How to add
In the left Instruments and experiments panel, Light and lenses section: click the element and it appears in the centre of the frame. Rays are traced instantly, no need to run the simulation. Put the lens in the path of the ray, perpendicular to the axis.
Properties
- Focal length, px
- A positive value gives a converging lens, a negative one a diverging lens.
- Angle
- Lens rotation.
- W and H
- Lens size.
Tips
- A parallel beam converges at the focus at distance f after a converging lens.
- To build an image of an object, use several rays in a fan and find their crossing point.
