Laser
A light source: a single ray or a beam that is reflected, refracted and absorbed by other optical elements.
How to add
In the left Instruments and experiments panel, Light and lenses section: click the element and it appears in the centre of the frame. Rays are traced instantly, no need to run the simulation. Rotate the laser to aim the ray.
Properties
- Ray angle, °
- The ray direction.
- Rays
- How many rays in the beam, 1 to 41.
- Fan, °
- Spread angle if the beam diverges.
- Parallel beam
- Rays run parallel. Beam width is set instead of the fan.
- Ray colour
- Colour of the ray line.
Tips
- A parallel beam is handy to show the focus of a lens.
- A single ray is simpler for reflection and refraction problems.
