Spring
An elastic link that pulls bodies toward a rest length, like a real spring with a damper.
How to add
Use the Joint tool (J), then set type Spring in the properties.
Properties
- Length
- The free length of the spring, the distance at which the force is zero.
- Stiffness k, N/m
- The larger it is, the more the spring resists stretching.
- Damper, N·s/m
- Damps oscillation. Without it the spring oscillates forever.
Tips
- Oscillation period T = 2π√(m/k): add a chart and check it.
- On the canvas the spring is drawn as a zigzag.
