Hinge (revolute joint)
An axis a body can rotate around: a wheel on an axle, a pendulum, a door, a lever.
How to add
Use the Joint tool (key J): click the first body, then the second or empty space to pin the axis to the world. Both bodies need physics enabled.
Properties
- Type
- Switches the connection kind: hinge, rope, fixed, slider, spring.
- Body A and body B
- Which bodies are linked. B may be empty: the axis is then pinned to the world.
- A x, A y and B x, B y
- Axis position relative to body centres.
- Motor, rad/s
- The speed at which the axis tries to turn the body. 0 means no motor.
- Motor force
- How strongly the motor fights the load.
- Draw rod
- Shows a solid rod between the axis and the body centres.
Tips
- Click the joint ring to select it. The dashed lines show which bodies it connects.
- For a wheel put the axis at the disc centre, leave body B empty and enable the motor.
