Gears
A pair of rotating axes linked by a transmission: the driven one turns the other way.
How to add
In 3D mode: Mechanisms → Gear pair.
Properties
- Ratio
- The driven joint speed equals the driver speed times this number. For gears it is negative.
- Force
- The maximum force with which the transmission holds the link.
- R₁ and R₂
- Gear radii. They set the size of the drawing.
Tips
- The driving gear sits on the hinge with the motor, the driven one on a second hinge.
- A ratio of 2 doubles speed and halves force.
